Giro d’Italia: Tim Merlier nabs a second wins on stage 18 as Milan loses place in mad sprint into Padova

Belgian sprinter TIm Merlier (Soudal-QuickStep) narrowly clinched his second stage of the 2024 Giro d’Italia after heading off a ferocious however overly late cost for the road by overwhelming favorite Jonathan Milan (Lidl-Trek).

Milan’s Lidl-Trek troops had managed a lot of the 178 kilometre stage between Fiera di Primiero and Padova, however the factors chief was positioned too far again because the pack swept into the ultimate metres and the Italian needed to accept second.  Australian Kaden Groves (Alpecin-Deceuninck) claimed third.

Tadej Pogačar (UAE Team Emirates) stays comfortably within the general lead, with simply three days racing remaining.

For Soudal-QuickStep, Merlier’s newest win is their third within the 2024 Giro d’Italia after the Belgian snatched the dash victory on stage  3 and Julian Alaphilippe took a lone win in Fano.
