Mieke Kröger gained her third German nationwide time trial title in Bad Dürrheim, besting high younger expertise Antonia Niedermaier (Canyon SRAM) after the 21-year-old led on the first checkpoint.
Kröger, 30, retired from highway racing after the 2023 season however has maintained a deal with her greatest self-discipline of time trialling and racing on the observe, with the Paris Olympics as her key purpose of the season.
Without a commerce group, Kröger raced in a black skinsuit and non-team problem Scott bike for her 30.6-kilometre effort, finishing the course in a time of 40:49 to beat Niedermaier by 17 seconds on the end.
Niedermaier set the quickest time, one second sooner than Kröger on the first checkpoint after 12.6km of her effort. But fell away because the hillier sections of the course got here thick and quick, shedding 10 seconds by the second time test at 22.8km and an extra six seconds to Kröger on the line.
Lisa Klein (Lidl-Trek) rounded out the rostrum with a robust effort, setting a time 41 seconds off the tempo of the skilled Kröger.
