Your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) is an estimation of how many calories you burn per day when exercise is taken into account. It is calculated by first figuring out your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), then multiplying that value by an activity multiplier.
Since your BMR represents how many calories your body burns when at rest, it is then adjusted based on your activity level to arrive at your TDEE. The more active you are, the higher your TDEE will be.
This calculator uses the Katch-McArdle Formula when body fat percentage is provided, which is known to be the most accurate for individuals who know their body fat percentage. If body fat percentage is not provided, the Mifflin-St Jeor Equation is used instead.
