Franziska Koch (DSM-firmenich-PostNL) is the brand new German street champion after she beat Liane Lippert (Movistar) and Antonia Niedermaier (Canyon-SRAM) in a three-up dash in in Bad Dürrheim.
Lippert was chasing her third successive title and her fourth in complete, however she needed to accept the silver medal after Koch sprang a shock by opening her dash with some 300m nonetheless to race.
The profitable transfer took form on the hardest climb to Öfingen with 15km to go, when Koch and Niedermaier had been the one riders who may observe Lippert’s searing acceleration. They had been all a part of a collection of a dozen or so riders that had shaped on the entrance of the race with 70km or so remaining.
