Demi Vollering (SD Worx-Protime) received stage 5 of La Vuelta Femenina on the Fuerte Rapitán ending climb, setting the tempo from 2.1km to go and dropping riders one after the other.
On the ultimate kilometre, Elisa Longo Borghini (Lidl-Trek) and Yara Kastelijn (Fenix-Deceuninck) had been the final to provide in, and Vollering powered forward to win the stage by 28 seconds, with Kastelijn beating Longo Borghini to second place.
