Lucinda Brand powered to her sixth win of the 2024-25 cyclocross season on the Superprestige Gullegem after completely pacing her approach to the entrance on the ultimate lap and leaving Ceylin del Carmen Alvarado (Fenix-Deceuninck) behind to win solo.
Alvarado led for lots of the first 4 laps in a trio alongside Zoe Bäckstedt (Canyon-SRAM) and Leonie Bentveld (Pauwels Sauzen-Cibel Clementines), till Brand fought from 10 seconds down and hit the entrance because the bell rang for the ultimate lap.
The Dutch champion shortly made Bentveld and Bäckstedt wrestle as she upped the tempo, with Alvarado momentarily capable of maintain on. However, her resolve was finally damaged by Brand’s diesel engine and he or she dropped again to struggle out second place with Bäckstedt.
