Tom Pidcock (Ineos Grenadiers) and Puck Pieterse (Alpecin-Deceuninck) received the elite quick monitor cross-country races on the WHOOP UCI MTB World Series spherical at Crans-Montana, Switzerland on Saturday.
Pidcock overcame early-race miscues and powered to an unbelievable come-from-behind victory within the males’s race. German Julian Schelb (Stop&Go Marderabwehr MTB Team) closed rapidly for second place, surging to inside two seconds of Pidcock on the line.
Luca Braidot (Santa Cruz RockShox Pro Team) was one other 4 seconds down for third, whereas Christopher Blevins (Specialized Factory Racing) rode simply forward of Maximilian Brandl (Lexware Mountainbike Team) and Nino Schurter (Scott-SRAM MTB Racing) for fourth.
Pieterse broke away from 4 different riders within the lead group to safe her second consecutive win of the season. Alessandra Keller (Thömas Maxon) received a three-rider dash for second, simply forward of Loana Lecomte (Canyon CLLCTV), who took third, and Anne Tauber, in fourth.
With her runner-up end, Keller retained her lead within the World Cup rankings for XCC. Haley Batten (Specialized Factory Racing), second within the standings, was by no means within the combine and completed twenty seventh, permitting Pieterse to overhaul her spot within the collection.
Overall XCC collection chief Victor Koretzky (Specialized Factory Racing) didn’t begin on Saturday resulting from sickness and damage. However, he retained his lead when his closest challenger, world champion Sam Gaze (Alpecin-Deceuninck), appeared to endure from ongoing knee issues on the laps after the holeshot and barely managed to complete the six laps, going next-to-last in thirty sixth place. Blevins jumps to 3rd total.
