Michael Vanthourenhout (Pauwels Sauzen-Cibel Clementines) received a head-to-head battle towards Joris Nieuwenhuis (Ridley Racing Team), the Belgian crossing the road at Brussels Universities Cyclocross eight seconds forward of his Dutch adversary on the remaining X2O Trofee race of the season.
Lars van der Haar (Baloise Glowi) rolled throughout the road in Brussels 41 seconds later for third.
Eli Iserbyt (Pauwels Sauzen-Cibel Clementines) completed 1:07 off the tempo for fourth, having labored again by some riders after struggling a flat tyre earlier within the race. The Belgian received the X2O Trofee sequence title for a fourth time on Sunday.
Series runner-up, Toon Aerts (Deschacht-Hens-FSP), took a heavy crash within the mud close to the pits early within the race, taking a very long time to remount his bike, and was not in a position to contest Iserbyt within the standings, ending seventh in Brussels.
Vanthourenhout, the UCI World Cup champion, was the primary to make a transfer on the entrance of the nine-lap race. Nieuwenhuis quickly tagged alongside the duo held a 10-second lead over Van der Haar on the center laps.
